What is QuestFest?
Quest Productions presents QuestFest, a two-week international festival celebrating visual theatre. QuestFest features groundbreaking work from exceptional performers and companies dedicated to the use of movement, gesture, and digital media to tell stories. By stripping away the artifice of language, QuestFest builds bridges between disparate communities and cultures.
QuestFest embraces the community through a variety of dynamic programs:
Festival
Quest Productions presents a two-week festival featuring more than 15 professionally produced plays and over 50 performances. All shows exhibit excellence in telling stories from a strong visual base.
QuestFest Conservatory
Artists participating in QuestFest conduct master classes and workshops in aspects of visual theatre such as mime, creative sign language, and movement for university students, theatre professionals, and the general public.
QuestFest College Festival
QuestFest showcases the best physical theatre from university training programs. Both undergraduate and graduate students present fully produced work and shorter pieces that are in development.
QuestFest In Your School
QuestFest artists conduct workshops and residencies for children in school settings. Workshops, residencies and performances are all part of exposing students to the power of expression through visual theatre.
QuestFest Forum
Regional leaders in the arts community engage in panel discussions for area theatre professionals, critics, and the general public.
Talk Backs
Post-performance discussions provide audiences with insights to the artistic process.
Internships
College and university students gain valuable theatre experience by assisting QuestFest staff and partners in the planning and production of QuestFest as well as the creation of new work to be featured at the festival.
Partnerships
Creating a strong community base is an important part of the QuestFest process. Quest partners with arts organizations, educational institutions, community organizations, government agencies, and corporations that share company’s vision of the power of visual theatre to build communication and cultural bridges.
Community
The QuestFest process includes community-based programs and activities in the months leading up to and following QuestFest. These activities play a critical role in developing relationships and trust in underserved populations. Brochures and ads have little impact on people who have traditionally not been part of the artistic process. Through community-based programs, festival performances, and accessible activities, hearing and deaf people, people who use English as a second language, and people who have communication difficulties all find a home at QuestFest.
