QuestFest Baltimore
By Christopher Skokna
Visual/physical theater, according to the organizers of this year's QuestFest, is basically performance that focuses more on the--duh--physical and visual aspects of theater than the aural ones (though the performances are by no means silent). Think dance, puppetry, and the circus arts more than the blah-blah-blah of your more verbose playwrights. There's too much going on at this two-week festival, mostly at Towson University but also at several other venues around the state, to list it all, but one highlight is Alice, based on the Lewis Carroll book, which features deaf performers and has been described as "avant-garde theater for the whole family," so don't forget to bring Grandma.
A two week celebration of visual theatre, featuring 12 professionally produced plays and over 40 productions. Also takes place at the Theatre Project, Creative Alliance at the Patterson, and the Round House Theatre.
