Two brothers suddenly realize that they have fallen in love with the same woman. They love her passionately, angrily, desperately and violently, yet they come to the awareness that their brotherhood is stronger than their sentiments. They sell the woman to a brothel, but end up visiting her there, and crawling at her feet. Her death appears to be the only possible solution, because, without her wish and even knowledge, she has become nothing more than an Intruder.
“The Intruder” is an 84 - minute play without words, a performance in which the main characters are Light, Music and Motion, a performance that redefines the world of Borges.
It is a modern pantomime-show, an impressive story expressed through dance, in which words are fully absorbed by body language and in which metaphor emerges from the majestic interplay of colors and from the beauty and vitality of Argentine music. The stage design by Sanda Mitache echoes Mihai Malaimare’s concept most accurately and suggestively. “The Intruder” has been produced by a remarkable team of performers, and it relies on a special, modern theatre that has built on the energy developing in the absence of words.
The Intruder is a performance that proposes a tough, staggering experience meant to agitate the spectator’s feelings by confronting them with a shocking, still realistic scenario.
An exciting story is told in few words, about two Irish brothers living on Hispanic land and sharing the same world, hard working life and finally sharing the same woman.
Their common love for this woman brings them even closer together but, at the same time, pushing them apart. “The Intruder” is sacrificed and the two brothers will share from now on the secret of the crime and the helplessness of forgetting a devastating love.
The scenic speech is developed through the usual means of Masca Theatre actors: few spoken words – but meant to touch your soul, a lot of scenic movement, a stunning rhythm, a plastic expression of light and dance (Argentinean this time) and the extreme experience of certain emotions. This immersion like performance leaves you wondering whether you forgot to breathe for the last hour or so…
